Author’s Introduction
In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Indeed, all praise is due to Allāh. We praise Him, seek His help, and ask His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Him from the evil within ourselves and from the consequences of our misdeeds. Whomever Allāh guides, none can misguide; and whomever He leaves astray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allāh, alone without partner, and I bear witness that Muḥammad is His servant and Messenger. May Allāh’s blessings and peace be upon Prophet Muḥammad, his family and companions, and upon all of His Prophets and Messengers, and upon those who love them until the Day of Judgment. To proceed:
Around twelve years ago, I aspired to write a comprehensive work that would critique atheism and present clear, compelling evidence for the truth of Islam. I set a personal deadline by which I hoped to bring this vision to life. As the years passed and that deadline drew near, so too did the completion of the project. And now—by the grace of Allāh—the work you hold in your hands represents the fulfillment of that long-held aspiration. This work is a three-volume series published under the overarching title Clear Proofs. Each volume also bears the series tagline A Series on the Critique of Atheism and the Evidence for Islam, with the volumes numbered sequentially—Volume One, Volume Two, and Volume Three. This tagline reflects the shared theme that unites all three books: a critical engagement with atheism and a rational, evidence-based defense of Islamic belief.
The first volume, Atheists: The Thieves of the Hereafter, presents selected signs pointing to the existence of the Creator—Glorified and Exalted be He—and systematically refutes atheistic claims concerning the origins of life, the universe, and living beings. The second volume, The Last Prophet: Evidence for the Truth of Islam, explores the origin of religion broadly and the history of monotheism specifically. It also presents compelling evidence for the truthfulness of Prophet Muḥammad (peace and blessings be upon him), with particular emphasis on the prophecies regarding his advent found in the scriptures of the People of the Book—namely the Jews and Christians. The third and final volume, Specious Atheistic Arguments and Faith-Disturbing Whispers, addresses and refutes the most well-known allegations raised against Islam and the Sharīʿah, while also offering practical guidance for confronting creedal doubts and responding to faith-related specious arguments. Together, these volumes aim to offer a coherent, accessible, and intellectually rigorous response to atheistic thought, grounded in both revelation and reason, as well as modern science.
I present this project—Clear proofs—to the atheist and the one grappling with doubts; to both Arab and non-Arab readers; to Muslims and non-Muslims alike; to those who believe in Allāh and those who do not subscribe to any religion; and to all seekers of truth. Above all, I dedicate it to the students of religious knowledge who wish to delve into the field of atheism criticism, as well as to Muslim expatriates who are confronted with the trial of faith-shaking specious arguments. In a word, this series is for anyone seeking to understand the purpose of their existence. That is, it is addressed to every mukallaf (a person who is religiously accountable in Islamic law—that is, someone who is mature, of sound mind, and has received the message of Islam).
The arguments presented in this work are addressed to all these audiences. This project is the fruit of eighteen years of experience in the field of atheism criticism. Its objective is to establish a foundation of sound and accurate knowledge, for I have come to realize that peripheral issues—branches—do not, on their own, give rise to a coherent methodology. It is necessary to build a clear approach, for it is the approach that gives rise to and preserves the integrity of its branches. The sincere seeker of truth will be guided by such a methodology. Without it, even if ten misconceptions are dispelled, the eleventh will still cause confusion—because the one struggling with doubts lacks a solid framework with which to confront them. Therefore, it is essential to establish such a methodology—one through which a person can acquire the ability to refute any specious argument by interpreting the mutashābih (ambiguous or not entirely clear Qurʾānic verses, open to multiple interpretations) in light of the muḥkam (clear and unambiguous verses that are definitive in meaning and interpretation).
This project also aims to cultivate a generation of young Muslims equipped to respond to and refute specious arguments against Islam—individuals who possess the knowledge to deconstruct the claims of atheism, secularism, and materialism; who are aware of the glaring inconsistencies and fallacies within these blasphemous worldviews; and who are well-grounded in the evidences for the truth of Islam and the certainties of faith. For we are presently witnessing a global war against Islam, marked by a concerted effort to weaken and annihilate its societal system through military, economic, social, and cultural means. This reality is plainly evident to anyone who observes contemporary world affairs. This conflict is far from new; it has been the constant fate of the followers of the Prophets (peace be upon them) throughout history. Human civilization bears witness to the fact that the ideologies of disbelief have consistently opposed divine guidance—employing temptations, distortions and poisonous misconceptions, as well as persecution to silence the believers and make falsehood appear attractive and convincing to the masses. Rebellion and transgression have marked the response of disbelievers across all generations, as many have chosen a life unbound by servitude to Allāh and free from the fear of accountability. Their defiance has remained so consistent that Allāh describes it as a legacy passed down through the ages: {Have they passed this ˹cliché˺ down to one another? In fact, they have ˹all˺ been a transgressing people} (Qurʾān 51:53). This reveals a profound truth: the atheists of today may frame their arguments in modern terms, but their motives for following the atheistic creed are no different from those of their predecessors thousands of years ago.
If we fail to fortify ourselves and our children, and neglect the continual purification of our souls, we risk being swept away by the surging tide of the atheistic ideological war against Islam. Today, we are witnessing a tangible rise in atheism, with the number of atheists increasing globally. Our Muslim world has not been spared from this wave, which is being driven by those I refer to as the “thieves of the Hereafter”—those who seek to deprive people of their afterlife. It is therefore incumbent upon every Muslim to learn how to confront this wave with wisdom and strength, and to transform this challenge into an opportunity to seek reward from their Lord. In fact, for those who benefit from it, this atheistic wave can be a great blessing from Allāh—if they seize it as an opportunity to serve under the banner of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), defending the religion of Allāh and calling others to the Truth.
The Muslim must strive to learn how to invite others to Allāh, to strengthen their own conviction, and to understand the problems inherent in atheism—so that their daʿwah (invitation to Islam) may be rooted in insight and clarity. Given that Muslim minorities in non-Muslim countries are among the groups most exposed to this wave of atheism, I intend—Allāh willing—to have this project translated into multiple languages, so that its benefit may reach a wider audience of Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Indeed, this is our duty because, at this critical juncture in human history, the world needs us far more than we need it. For we are witnessing an unprecedented surge of nihilism and absurdism, where the very concept of ‘Man’ has been erased and replaced by a hollow ‘non-Man’ (a human stripped of inherent purpose and dignity)—a consequence of ‘the death of Man’ (the loss of the traditional understanding of human worth and meaning), an inevitable by-product of atheistic thought. The wise, then, are those who seek Allāh’s aid, roll up their sleeves, and exert themselves in calling people to their Lord and conveying His message. Verily, this is our true duty as Muslims—one that will earn us the highest rank of honor, as Allāh says in the Qurʾān: {And whose words are better than someone who calls ˹others˺ to Allāh, does good, and says, “I am truly one of those who submit.”?} (Qurʾān 41:33).
In this work, I have carefully cited all quotes and references. In many instances, I have also included screenshots of the original sources to enhance the reader’s understanding and strengthen the work’s credibility. I have made a conscious effort to simplify complex ideas as much as possible. However, some content may initially seem challenging to grasp. Nevertheless, I encourage readers to persevere, as what appears obscure at first will soon become clear. The material in this book is presented in a question-and-answer format, which I have found effective in maintaining focus and facilitating comprehension and retention.
This work includes:
1.A refutation of atheistic views concerning the emergence of the universe and the origin of life, accompanied by a critique of the most well-known specious arguments regarding the miraculous nature of existence—placing particular emphasis on the signs and evidences affirming the existence of the Creator, Exalted is He.
2.A critique of atheistic claims about the origin of religion and its role in human life, along with a presentation of key evidences supporting the truth of Islam and the veracity of the Messenger (may Allāh’s blessings and peace be upon him), including established facts recognized by the People of the Book—namely the Jews and Christians—regarding the advent of the final Prophet, Muḥammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
3.An analysis of specious arguments within atheism, highlighting their connection to al-waswās al-qahrī (compulsive whisperings) as they relate to ʿaqīdah (Islamic creed), and clarifying the overlap between these whisperings and faith-related doubts.
4.A response to the most prominent contemporary atheistic objections, grounded in both rational critique and theological clarity.
5.An exposition on the status and rights of women in Islam, addressing common misconceptions and affirming Islam’s dignified view of women.
6.A critique of deviant ideologies circulating among some Muslims, including the rejection of the Sunnah, feminism, the law of attraction, and other trends.
7.A presentation of selected evidences affirming the certainty of faith, offering clarity and reassurance for those seeking spiritual conviction.
Now that I have completed this project, I can do nothing but praise my Lord, Glory be to Him, Who facilitated the means for me to accomplish it. I also wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who taught, guided, and supported me throughout the journey of writing this book, which took nearly three years to complete. Any success or correctness found within it is solely by the grace of Allāh, while any errors or omissions are my own and attributable to Satan. I regard this project as but a small step along a very long path, paved with thousands of arguments and evidences affirming the truth of Islam. Indeed, human knowledge, no matter how vast, remains limited, while Allāh’s knowledge is infinite; no one can fully record it, much less comprehend its entirety. Pens made from all the trees would not suffice to write the Words of Allāh, and were the ocean turned to ink, it would be exhausted: {Say: If the sea were to become ink to record the Words of my Lord, indeed the sea would be all used up before the Words of my Lord are exhausted, and it would be the same even if We were to bring an equal amount of ink} (Qurʾān 18:109). We, as human beings with limited understanding, cannot fully grasp the unfathomable Greatness of Allāh. Our knowledge of Him is restricted to what He has revealed about Himself through His Final Word—the Qurʾān—and through His Prophets. How regrettable it is, then, that despite this clarity, atheists continue to deny the most evident of all truths, refusing to acknowledge the reality of their Creator and to shape their lives in accordance with it.
I pray that Allāh makes this project beneficial and rewards us accordingly, for He is indeed the Magnanimous and the Generous. Finally, if anyone wishes to express gratitude to me for having been the means by which they once understood some aspect of the religion of Allāh, then let sharing this book be their way of thanking me. All praise is due to Allāh—Lord of all worlds—Who decrees goodness through His mercy and removes evil by His generosity and grace.
